A fine quality English pearlware jug with copper and pink lustreware glaze. There are three different transfer prints around the body which have been hand decorated with coloured enamels.
The transfers include: (obverse) A farmyard scene with a milkmaid, a milkboy and several cows; (front) A simple flower sprig; (reverse) A woodland scene with two birds above a group of 3 children (boy on left plus 2 girls), the middle child is holding a bird's nest with chicks inside. The colours used include purple, pink, blue, cyan, green, brown, yellow and orange/ochre.
Plain moulded spout, crimped '7' type handle, with simple turned foot and base. A turned rib (thin raised band) around the body delineates the divide between the lustre area and exposed part of the body. The clear glaze shows a blue tint where it pools.
