A pearlware jug with moulded cartouches of a man known as ‘The Snuff Taker’. The jug has underglaze blue painted decoration as well as eye dots of manganese purple-brown. The same design is repeated on the obverse and reverse sides. The use of two under-glaze colours and the moulding mean this falls within the definition of moulded prattware.

This ware and design is usually attributed to Staffordshire but it was also produced in Scotland.
