Very large two-tone treacleware spaniel dog figure.

£65.00

Availability: In stock

A very large press-moulded earthenware spaniel dog figure. With a random two-tone treacleware glaze over a pale yellowish / buff body. The dog has a moulded collar with padlock and chain. The base has an un-glazed foot ring and is closed with a small round air-hole.

This figure is often found in white earthenware but is much more unusual with this body and treacleware glaze. Probably made in Staffordshire circa 1860-1885.

The final photograph shows a smaller dog (not included in this sale), of more ‘normal’ size, shown alongside for comparison.
