Availability: In stock

A small earthenware jug with a black ‘Jackfield’ type glaze. Simple extruded strap handle with basic ‘kick-up’ lower terminal. The spout is the angular ‘sparrow-beak’ type. It stands on three moulded paw type feet. The base is flat and fully glazed.

Generally referred to as Jackfield ware, but was called ‘Shining Black’ by the potters who made it (including Wedgwood and Whieldon). This jug, like most so-called Jackfield ware, was probably made in Staffordshire rather than Jackfield in Shropshire.
